About me
Emily Hamilton is a soprano and bassoonist with a passion for contemporary music. With a love for collaborating with living composers, she has worked alongside and premiered five works by composers Lily Koslow, Sean Smith, Gabriel Wallerstein, Julian Green, and Thomas Quirion.
Emily is a current student at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University where she is obtaining her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance under the tutelage of Anja Burmeister. Emily is currently working on her program for her recital in April 2023; her program features works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Hugo Wolf, Luigi Nono, Eric Whitacre, Rebecca Clarke, and Louis Beydts. Additionally, she is working on the premiere for a composition by Thomas Quirion.

Emily’s most recent collaborations were in June 2022, during her attendance at the International Music Festival of the Adriatic (IMFA) as a member of the Vocal Studio. At this festival, she premiered three works by composers-in-attendance: Luce for 8 voices by Sean Smith (b. 2001), We Don’t Unknow for soprano, violin, and piano by Julian Green (b. 1995), and E and O, Op. 51 for soprano, mezzo-soprano, and piano by Gabriel Wallerstein (b. 2002).

Emily’s passion for music was born from a love of languages. She is fluent in Spanish and English; additionally, she has studied Italian, German, and French in a university setting as well as numerous other languages in her free-time. This appreciation for languages shows in her performances: Emily has performed in English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Latin, Russian, Hebrew, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Arabic, Swedish, and Icelandic. She looks forward to working on music in other languages in the future.

With an expected graduation from McGill in the summer of 2023, Emily will be moving back to the United States to obtain a Certificate in Voice Acting from Wichita State University.
